CONCLUSIONS based on 2 years of data.

  • Implementation of a Breast Milk Tracking System (Keriton) is associated with increased Breast Milk provision and less exclusive formula use at discharge from the Baystate NICU
  • Any Breast Milk at Discharge (pre-Keriton) 62.3% vs (post-Keriton) 75.6% with p-value 0.002
  • Exclusive Formula at Discharge (pre-Keriton) 37.7% vs (post-Keriton) 24.4% with p-value 0.002
  • Increased parental communications using the parent-facing Kare Connect app & decreased Breast Milk errors may have contributed to the overall improvement in Breast Milk provision

2. Presented by Connecticut Children’s at NEANN 2021, the annual meeting of the New England Association of Neonatal Nurses.

RESULTS based on 12 months of data: March 1, 2020 to March 1, 2021.

  • On-boarded 779 patients
  • Shared 5,815 photos
  • Validated 54,066 feedings
  • Managed 19,823 bottles of breastmilk
  • Managed 3,328 bottles of Donor Human Milk
  • Caught 345 near misses

3. Presented by Penn Medicine at NANN 2019, the annual meeting of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses.

RESULTS based on 12 months of data: Engagement interventions including a Pump-a-thon and pumping challenges.

  • Monthly average breastmilk pumped during calendar year 2018 was 180,759mls
  • Monthly average number of moms for calendar 2018 was 49.75
  • For the month of August 2018 (encompassing World Breastfeeding Week) breastmilk pumped was 282,180mls with 47 moms
  • This represents a 56% increase in August 2018 compared with the monthly average for the calendar year of 2018

4. Presented by Penn Medicine at NANN 2018, the annual meeting of the National Association of Neonatal Nurses.

RESULTS based on 9 months of data.

  • For each photo sent to a mother, she pumped 72mL more milk (p-value = 0.000160619)
  • Lactation analytics provide real-time data about pumping patterns, allowing for accurate and timely interventions when counseling mothers on how to build and maintain supply with the secure text chat feature

RESULTS based on 9 months of data.

  • 73% increase in nurses feeling new system is helpful to practice
  • 58% increase in nurses feeling more efficient with new system
  • Cost savings: Reduction of 6,000 nursing hour/year equivalent to 3.2 FTEs
